Until a few minutes ago, a particularly ranty rant was in this space. I've taken it private, at least for now, after finding that it had hurt and offended at least one person I (and not just I) hold very dear.  I have apologized, and do apologize, for that.

I was angry about the underlying circumstances, and I still am. Much shorter version: I had to jump through hoops yesterday, online and off, to find and purchase a copy of some music we have been looking forward to. The new album, from a relatively new artist on the scene, turned out to be tied to at least two high-level corporate promotion deals where exclusive distribution rights got given out. That still offends me; music should be, not free, but at least freely available, and I find it a disturbing trend that the recording industry is cutting back on availability, even as technology is making the product so much more available, for the sake of sheer profit.

In expressing all that, I made up a word that did not work. It triggered and cut. I intended to aim it at the corporate overlords, the Koch brothers of this world who are in serious need of a beatdown this week (despite their having already gotten one from a much better blogger right here in Buffalo), but instead I hit someone who didn't need it and certainly didn't deserve it.

Several people have suggested that LJ needs a Facebook-style "like" button. I think I rather more need a "sleep on your angry post before you send this" ticky box.

We now return you to the usual tomfoolery and hijinks about upcoming anal probes.

Ray, I love that you apologize when you feel you have truly hurt someone. I know we disagree on almost everything political, but you have never been cruel or hutful in your posts, and anything that you did was certainly unintentional on your part, I'm sure.

It was an offhand remark, and you're right, he didn't mean to offend. I just said to him I think there's an electronic version of cabin fever, and we're all getting on each other's nerves. Kinda like family does in the winter, you know?

Can't imagine what you said in that post that was offensive, but it's nice that you apologized. This is kinda like what happened to me a while back when I was ranty about a certain type of parenting I see here in Portland. It hit some nerves, and I apologized. your wife made a great deal of sense in her private email to me about it, and I'd say the same thing to you.

FWIW, when I read your post, I recall thinking, "Grr, her voice isn't good enough to warrant this kind of hoop-jumping!" hahahaha.

Love and hugs, friend.
