"Night Editor! We need copy!"

Or rather, "copy editor! We need synonym!"
Eleanor's writing a post as we speak. She's recalling an unfortunate incident, close to a decade ago, where Emily broke a finger while rollerblading near a friend's house.
The concept she's going for is, "Kids don't think something bad is gonna happen to them, making them wear gloves or similar protection. They think they're _____ [to it]."
That word is not: indestructable (although that seems the closest to her after hearing a whole buttload of choices)
immortal
invincible
impervious (although this one got the most guttural recognition out of her)
And so I turn to youse, oh gods and goddesses of the lingua ingla. What IS it? It's bugging the crap out of me, too, since I know there's the perfect one and just can't think of it.
No prizes, although I might just throw in yet another Broken download if I feel especially, um,.... what's the word for release?

Unbreakable? Adamantine? Perdurable? Infrangible?

Invincible
God only wise...
to the tune of St. Denio (#301 in the 1940 Episcopal Hymnal). Than I realized that was not what you were looking for.
Indestructible? Immune?

Date: 2011-02-05 08:51 pm (UTC)And Eleanor thinks it WAS "invincible" she was shooting for. Or maybe "invulnerable." As one of my college profs once put it, "words are a clumsy way of talking."
