I promise, I won't turn this Hassan trial into a daily obsession here (have I told you recently about my hoinia computer crash?), but there were two very familiar words at the end of an entry in the local paper's liveblogging of the first day's testimony, which I just had to repeat:

3:02 p.m.: Paul Mazur, assistant laboratory director of the Erie County Central Police Services forensic lab, testified that he went to the Bridges television studio and office with detectives from Orchard Park at about 10 p.m. Feb. 12.

Mazur told Prosecutor Paul Bonanno that he collected items from the scene, including two knives and a shirt. The knives, he said, were found in a "washtub-type basin sink" in a bathroom. The shirt was found in a garbage can.

One of the knives, Mazur said, had what appeared to be hair on it and a red stain. Mazur said the shirt had "blood spatter" on the front.

Damn, Mo. It's a pity you didn't do this deed in Miami. Their blood spatter specialist would have probably done more than write a report and testify against you.

My day in court today was far less interesting than any of that.  Close to four hours downtown for approximately ten minutes of actual time before two different judges (at least in the same building) and with zero positive results coming out of either.  Judge The First reasonably expedited things, but his counterpart was close to three hours behind in calling his calendar, and by the time mine was finally called, the other side said, in essence, "we're so far behind we don't have time to figure this out today."

I believe Steve Martin said it best:

(I have no idea what the "Blenda" reference supered over the end of the clip means. Anyone? Bueller?)

Brief time-out at home, then off to an evening workout.
