Oops-es and awww-s
Aug. 28th, 2010 10:10 amConsidering that we're going to be spending the next few days moving All The Things, this vid came across as unfortunately timely:
At least one of you should also recognize the art on the wall at about the 0:12 mark.

The Honkin Yellow truck is home from its dry run helping another kid move. I've been through plenty of Augusts with kids heading off to college- hell, I can still remember that August weekend, not that long ago, that I loaded all my worldly possessions in the trunk and back seat of a Buick Skylark and made my first such transition- but this time it's personal. I know Cameron (Buff State). And Marty (Cortland). And the Marty I've known even longer (Geneseo). Nathan (Niagara). I've never met Luke (Fredonia) or Alex (Maryland), but I know of them enough and know the exquisite combination of joy and pain being felt right now by their parents who I do know.
I also know Emily (RIT), who may be the last of the Class of '92-ish nursery to make the move out, four days from now. I wish the best to all of you and all of them in their one-way journeys and your one-way returns, and I welcome your return greetings and advices. Comment, email or just come on by for a drink- it's gonna be a lot quieter around here.
