I could swear I just heard a radio report which said that Bobby "Apu" Jindal, the Republican governor of Louisiana, has asked the federal government for help in containing the fast-approaching oil spill from the crippled BP rig.

That can't be right.

All I've been hearing for the past 15 months is how the federal government screws up everything it touches when it tries to interfere in private-sector business.

The oil companies have the brightest and the best at their disposal- engineers, oceanographers, geologists. C'mon, BP! Let's see that old American enteprenuerial spirit here!

Plus, we have a trillion dollar deficit to work on. Just because some birds might get a little muddy is no reason to sacrifice the well-being of our children and grandchildren for some immediate feel-good headlines!

How do we even know this oil spill is going to make it to the United States? I think this is just another environmentalist wacko HOAX!

Even if it somehow does, look how the government screwed up the last crisis in Louisiana. I bet they still have all those school buses and radioactive trailers still sitting around that they never used. How about we bus in some Tea Party people? They can all put their sandbags where their mouths are and show us all how we don't need no stinkin' government to solve our problems.

Waitasec.... this spill was caused by BRITISH Petroleum. And it wasn't even born in this country!

Let's dump some tea in the Delta. That'll hold that British oil off just like we defeated them in the Revolution!

My favorite part is when I heard that BP was seeking financial assistance from Uncle Sam to help with this problem. I believe Barry's exact words were "oh no you didn't!"
