Does 6 go into 2900?

captainsblogI almost always seem to do this, with little if any pre-planning- okay, I spammed a LITTLE in the past day or so to get to this point- but today marks the sixth anniversary of this journal, and this entry is the 2,900th I've subjected you to in those 2,191 days.
When I began, I was struggling in a career I could then barely stand, at a job I vehemently disliked, surrounded by coworkers who, almost to a one, did not understand or appreciate what I did or how I worked. These more-than-daily ramblings have been my therapy, my comfort, occasionally my sorrow but far more often my joy. Now, with all the help I've received (and occasionally given), I'm in a better place in my career, and finances, and family life than I ever would have dreamed on that first dipping-of-toe into this water.
In the past year, Eleanor has found this site, and many of you as well, and she's made her own journal here a part of her routine. She's told me often how dear she finds your experiences, and your observations, and your very real friendships. We both hope to continue adding the in-person dimension to those connections, but if it doesn't happen next month, or this year, or even ever, it doesn't diminish how important you are to us at all.
It's been nice seeing some people posting here recently who haven't much, if at all, until the past few days. The siren songs of Face-scylla and Charyb-twit are quite irresistible, I know (I've succumbed to the one and likely will to the other someday), and putting together free-form Entries without character limits is, I know, HARD. Yet it brings me plenty of happiness when I do it, and just as much when you do.
I love you, and thank you, and hope we will continue to surf these shores together for plenty to follow:)
