Pocket full of Kryptonite randomness

captainsblogEleanor's already touched on a number of things I wanted to mention from the past 24 hours, since she's been home sick all day. Among them, this post about the lovely way our anniversary dinner ended (once we finally found a local place that would take us sans rezzy on a Saturday night), and more recently this one, about not just Teh Sick but also Teh Mentally Ill- namely, that the only call we've gotten in response to our Lost Cat signs was from our neighborhood's Crazy Lady With Twenty-Seven Cats™, ranting at Emily about how the SPCA is really a sekrit criminal organization that randomly murders animals for the sport of it.
So really, I'm left with a bunch of one-liners again, which will make some of my readers inordinately- HEY WHAT'S THAT? LET'S RIDE BIKES!

I'm not much of a football fan anymore, but I did catch a bit of the Jets-Tennessee game, or as it was apparently known on throwback uniform day today, Titans vs. Titans. Gawd were the original New York uniforms the buttest-ugliest things I've ever seen, and that's counting those hideous Bungles helmets:
On the bright side, the Bills held Nawlins to a single touchdown in the first half, and thanks to a fake field goal, our punter must now have the highest quarterback rating in the whole freakin' league.

Fans of my fabulous life as a Lexulous player on Facebook will recall that my two biggest recent wordplays, blessed no doubt by my niece's pregnancy, were PREEMIES and CERVIXES. Now that she's had the baby, I wound up getting to play DAIRYMEN. Just hope the little guy isn't lactose-intolerant.

Reminder, to me, mainly, since the truly obsessed already have this written down and a set of knives aimed at their roommates' heads if they forget to hit the record button: Dexter season 4 begins at 9 eastern! (It remains to be seen if the on-demand episodes will thereafter be available sooner than airtime as they were for Nurse Jackie.)
Speaking of premieres, last weekend's broadcast of This American Life (which I finally got to at the gym today) was a rerun of their one-act feature from nine years ago titled "The Fix Is In." That story, more or less directly, led to the movie dramatization just released, starring Matt Damon and titled The Informant! It looks to be some serious fun. Unlike, say, Moulin Rouge!, another movie! with a distinct exclamation point! in it! which Emily brought home for our "weekend away" and which neither Eleanor OR I could make heads! or tails! out of when we tried watching it this afternoon.

Blessings on Yom Kippur to those who observe. Unfortunately for her, it appears Eleanor will be joining you, more or less, in fasting.

When I turned the Titans-Jets game I seriously thought I had lost my mind...or that I was watching ESPN Classic.
