Not quite 9:30 a.m.: dashing for court on a dark, windy, cold morning, I cut through Niagara Square and saw as determined a band of cultural tourists as you're likely to find. A handful of Asian fotogs were all over the periphery, taking pictures of City Hall and the McKinley Monument.  Their tourbus (minibus, more like it) had Ontario plates and was likely an optional side trip from a Niagara Falls visit. I can't imagine ever being as culturally motivated at that hour, in that weather, to take pictures depicting a dead President and an almost-as-dead city's legacy.

Just after 9:30: stuck inside the Buffalo City Court Building, a 10-story windowless edifice with all the sex appeal of a road accident, which, if ever photographed by a tourist, should lead to that tourist's arrest for public drunkenness. Every single human being in the courtroom was in a fouler mood than I- no small feat, as I heard my meter minutes ticking away as they dicked around eight prior cases before finally releasing me just as those minutes expired.

Elevens.  Stopped at the office here for a paperwork pickup, and instead picked up a building full of dark. Apparently the water authority and electric utility, in a rare showing of incompetent partnership, had flooded out a transformer, leaving the entire staff in a dull, dark daze. I got to leave them behind to head for my afternoon stops, beginning with....

Noonish. Stopped at the kids' place, partly to drop off some stuff they'd asked for, partly to get an extra signature from Cameron on the van we've been trying to sell for him, but mainly, face it, to see my new grandchild for the first time since last week:

She is so sweet, and playful, and relatively quiet, even as Cam and I just watched Spiderman spider-features while Em was dropping off a paper.  They are incredibly blessed to have all found each other.

Not quite 1: Nailed down a deal to sell Das Van. Less than we wanted, but the three months off-road had made it sketchier, and it was within $50 of what Cam had okayed (and I okayed them spending at least that much on a credit card, so it will all even out).

2-3 p.m.: Teef cleaning. Also, maybe a solution to my recently bad teeth-grinding, which has chipped the lower undersides of a couple of uppers in recent weeks. I was referred to a local sporting goods store for a generic football-style mouth guard; if that doesn't drive me totally crazy, they can custom-fit one for me that will likely solve the grinding issue (and maybe even the snoring issue) for good.

Thereafter. Client, drive home, mail at lately-lit office (including a long-delayed-by-Sandy check from a Connecticut client), doing the deal on the van, church meeting, home and fall down go boom.  Somewhere in there, the Miami Marlins traded half their team to Toronto for a bag full of jockstraps. It'll be nice to go up there next year and see Jose Reyes in dreads again:)

Much abbreviated, that, but all in all much appreciated.  We're at it again tomorrow, hopefully in single-digit hours.

This morning, almost as much. Good thing the afternoon settled down.

Same as here, basically.

"It's our house; you pay the mortgage."

Only for them, singular and substitute "rent" for "mortgage."

They're bringing Gwen here with them for Thanksgiving next week; that should result in a good clash of the kit-tans:)
