I paid a bunch of bills today, including the registration for Eleanor's truck and Ebony's dog license. Our state never misses a chance to use a mandatory payment to try selling us on other useless crap, and this batch was no exception.
Included with the dog license renewal was a pitch for a worthy cause- but one that will send money to Albany in perpetuity, which I doubt will ever be shared completely with the charity in question. The Cause of the Month is something called "Drive for the Cure," which allegedly donates the entirety of the vanity plate fee (25 bucks a year) to an even split between breast cancer and testicular/prostate cancer research and education.
All well and good, until we get to the sample plate they provided- not with the truck registration, but along with the dog license renewal:
