Twenty-five (or 6 to 4?)
Sep. 26th, 2012 09:59 pmYesterday afternoon, I told co-workers in my part-time Rochester office that today was our 25th. That immediately brought out the question of what I planned to do for it. Since Eleanor was working until 7 tonight, our options were limited, so I turned the question around and asked, What do YOU think I should do?
The first suggestion, from the office financial manager, was the most over-the-top: Send her a Gorillagram at work with a dozen roses! Before the sentence was finished, the office manager was shaking her head violently, and she, the resident Google expert, was Googling B&Bs for us from Niagara Falls to Cape Cod and dozens of places in between.
I gently noted that (a) Eleanor doesn't like to travel much and (b) we have five moochy animals in needy of feedy even when and if we both venture forth together, a conundrum when both Em and Cam are out of town as well.
Still, I kept their idea in mind when I got to the end of the day today, not quite an hour before my beloved got out of work. Live gorillas might not work- but a stuffed one, who's been in our life longer than our quarter century of marriage, just might:

That's Beauregard on your right, and a dozen roses to his right. They had the desired effect on my beloved, just as her choices of range-fed beef and lobstah tails had on me:)
Happy September 26th to each and every one of you. It may not be as historically significant as it is for us, but it's been a lovely day, and we both rejoice in sharing it with all those we call Friend:)
