Because even though I usually don't understand a word of it all, I get this:

* I have no idea what that asterix is supposed to reference. Is it some kind of in-joke? Never mind. I saw it on the right edge of the strip. He usually puts his footnotes under the boxes.

Elmira, Elmira
My heart's on fire, Elmira

More to the point, that's where I'll be in about 15 hours for a hearing requiring an ass-o-clochic alarm tomorrow. I'll call my sister when I get done there, if a certain someone is ready to review a draft of a certain something.

It's probably a reference to the penguin to whom he's speaking-- a shapeshifting private investigator named Frobisher-- voiced by a Canadian in the audio dramas-- whose usual form was a 4ft tall penguin was a Companion of the Sixth Doctor in a comic series and then in two Big Finish audios (the Doctor represented here, however, is the Tenth Doctor-- not a bad likeness, but the cheekbones are wrong, and he should have more freckles). I'm guessing it's the inherent absurdity of this Companion-- though the audios are absolutely brilliant.

Well, the penguin is a regular character in TMW- usually the only one with a brain in a shot full of talking-head Republicans.

But the latter reference probably doubles the irony for those of you who get both.

Well, the freckles depend on how much time Tennant's spent in the sun recently. (Aww, Runaway Bride. SO many freckles!) But yeah, and the mouth's wrong too. It should be fixed in a manic, manic grin of glee. But the hair is A-OK, and ultimately, what's more important than that?!

you should see the first big show he was in, Takin' Over the Asylum-- many, many freckles, plus auburn tresses.

But yeah, and the mouth's wrong too. It should be fixed in a manic, manic grin of glee.

Especially if he's just popped in. Though I don't see a companion, so maybe he's a little down...

This is quite true. ;)

Yeah-- I just got the DVD set, and he's just darling. Ep 2, with Campbell's father, just makes me cry every time.

And there must be a musical ep of Doctor Who. There simply must be. :)

I've only seen the first ep -- downloaded the second, but can't get it to play. Didn't know it was on DVD though, oooh!

A musical ep of Who would RULE. They could excuse it the same way they did on Buffy. Just travel to a planet where everyone sings. Easy as pie.

http://www.youtube.com/user/midcirclenine has all of them, last I looked.

It just came out over here (I live in Cardiff); not sure about anywhere else, but amazon.co.uk has it.

Perfect. :) There are loads of songs all ready out there that'd be perfect ('Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor Doctor)' 'A Rose for My Rose,' 'Captain Jack,' 'Time Machine,' 'Doctor Time,' etc...)

Oooh, I was thinking more along the lines of original songs! Although they could do it karaoke-style. IT WOULD BE LIKE BLACKPOOL ALL OVER AGAIN!

Ah, no wonder I can't find it in the USA. Damn Brits and your damn DVDs formats. :-P

I'd not object. :)

See if your computer's DVD player is multi-region-- most of them are nowadays. :)

Nowadays, sure -- my laptop is ancient! How do I check for that sort of thing, anyway??
