I know it has something to do with a rap artist, but there's a whole buncha backstory I seem to be missing.

Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" video. People post links, ostensibly to interesting/relevant information, but they take you to the video for that earworm instead.

Many years ago, in the 80's, a man named Rick Astley sang a song. The incongruous part is that he has a fairly deep voice, yet he looks like Howdy Doody.

Apparently, all of a sudden it's considered funny to link one to the video deviously.
