...well, you know.
Whichever pagan told us that we'd be free of the ill effects of the most recent retrograde of Mercury by August 8th? Goddess Be!-Ess! The weirdness continued unabated throughout the day:
* I couldn't get out of my own way the entire morning. Knocked over a tupperwarish container of green olives onto the freshly-washed kitchen floor; had the toilet float assembly go bad on both ends (I reattached the top, Eleanor the bottom); and we made no headway in finding Cameron's wallet, which has been missing since Saturday.
* We also got to deal with his mom doing a surprise Phone Home at 8:something this morning, because his dentist called her to advise that he was late for an appointment, like, right then.
* Work went better than expected, but it was still a long day with lots of dead time. The one court appearance I actually "won" got mis-recorded onto the court docket and I had to call them up to fix it.
* Worst of all, the latest on the insurance reimbursement is.... unknown, Captain. The credit into our health savings account was the correct amount (they basically backed out the discount they'd given her for self-paying, even though they've had the damn money for four months), and the credited-back funds had actually shown up online by this morning, but three tries at different ATMs operated by the correct bank all told me ,"I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave" "We are unable to process this transaction at this time." I'm giving it until tomorrow to see if it's a business-day issue, and then I'm going after them with poin-ted sticks.
On the bright(er) side, speaking of which,... Eric Idle's appearance in the closing ceremonies was perhaps the best and surrealist moment of the entire proceeding. I love that he did the correct lyrics, even if NBC necessarily bleeped the one word out. (Not sure how the Beeb or CTV handled that.) The Lennon tribute was touching, the Bowie one just plain weird, and I never did make it to see the Who at the end (a reality the Olympic Police continue to enforce online every time I try to find even a snippet of their performance).
Oh well. I heard McKayla was not impressed by it.
