Today wound up being a more-or-less half day for me- catching up on some paperwork early while the phones were mostly dead. I spent the rest of the day running errands, working out, and then doing my imitation of a vegetative state in front of the idiot box.

The latter effort actually began earlier. Even one of my errands- picking up a watch which needed a new battery and required surgery to remove the old one- had its share of fandom, as I swear that one of the proprietors of Watch World looks like Sylar.

The vegging then began on the recumbent bike, as I turned the personal TV in front of it to SciFi and caught parts of the Firefly marathon. I have the beta of Hulu, so I can watch (and have watched) these episodes any time I want, but there was something endearing about seeing the guys back in action on a somewhat bigger screen. Also, despite never having seen any of the episodes more than twice, I found myself anticipating River's "I can kill you with my brain" line.

Then home, James, for my indoctrination into the world of slightly sanitized Dexter, the network premiere of which I'd recorded the night before. Gawd, is this show funny in a sociopathic sort of way. There's something perfect about Michael C. Hall in the role, after all his prim and prissyness on SFU, joking with his fellow cops about a competing slasher keeping a severed head in the cab of his truck so he could use the car pool lanes.  Even the commercials played well, considering the original airings on Showtime didn't have any; I especially enjoyed the spot for the National Association of Realtors, who must feel a certain kinship with serial killers right about now.

Things just ended with my watching the 2002 remake of The Italian Job, me the whole time trying to crack my second combination lock of the day and failing miserably at it.

Back to relative normalcy tomorrow, except for Em, who has the whole week off.
