Tiger Escapes from San Francisco Zoo, Kills and Mauls Visitors

The first attack happened right outside the Siberian's enclosure - the victim died at the scene. A group of four officers came across his body when they entered the dark zoo grounds, Mannina said.

The second victim was about 300 yards away, in front of the Terrace Cafe. The man was sitting on the ground, blood running from gashes in his head and Tatiana sitting next to him.

The cat attacked the man again, Mannina said. The officers approached the tiger with their handguns. Tatiana moved in their direction and several of the officers fired, killing the animal.

Only then did they see the third victim, who had also been mauled.

I'm just waiting for the PETA reaction to this, which will likely be a protest over the killing of the poor helpless kittycat. Don't laugh; this is the organization which sent a fax to Roy Horn's hospital room after HE got mauled onstage a few years back, saying, in essence, good riddance, hope he gets you next time.

The tigercide also rules out the possibility of PETA breeding a new race of monster cats from the stock of Tatiana and Roy Horn's old buddy Montecore.  "Pity," said PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk. "We'd planned a full North American tour with stops at Mike Vick's prison and right outside the Olsen twins' mansion."

Billionaire roofing executive dies after falling off roof

Ken Hendricks, who was 66, was the 91st richest man in the United States with a net worth of $3.5 billion in September, according to Forbes magazine.

Hendricks grew up working side-by-side with his father, a Janesville, Wis., roofer. After dropping out of high school, he started his own roofing business at age 21, according to a biography supplied by his company.

Tired of dealing with multiple suppliers scattered around the country, he and his wife, Diane, started a national supply distribution chain in 1982.

ABC Supply Co. — based in Beloit, Wis., about 60 miles southwest of Milwaukee — celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, with 6,000 employees in 390 locations nationwide. It does about $3 billion in business a year.

Oh gawd. I've represented this company. Then again, I do seem to have a talent for finding such clients. Years ago, my Rochester firm represented one of the wealthiest men in the county, who built a real estate empire from humble beginnings in a west side industrial yard.  He died when one of his own truck drivers ran him over in the parking lot.

----

This last one isn't news, but it's still plenty weird. Just now, I was checking a phone number for a referral to a lawyer in Iowa, and in the directory I was using, one firm name in large bold print really stood out:

Over, Over & Over, P.C.

I SO want to call them up and ask if they have a lawyer working there named Roger.

Or if they have a litigation partner who looks just like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Languages spoken: English, Spanish, Jive.

"Motion to dismiss case granted." "Your Honor! Surely you can't be serious!" "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley."

"Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up trusts and estates."
