My story and I'm sticking with it
Jul. 10th, 2012 10:10 pmToday was an amazing day.
Emily spread her wings and flew. Initially, during the day trip to Rochester with (briefly) me and (mostly) Mom, as they sought out potential college apartments for this fall, checked details, drew interior plans from memory and made massive headway in a necessary cause. Then tonight, when it sounded like one (or more like a third) of her wings got clipped a bit, she showed even more determination to make a home there, if only for herself and Cameron, that will endure.
I also got an outward and visible sign of one of the best results I've had in my work all year- which, if it holds up over the next few days, will enable the two of them to start out on their own, within reason, in most of the kinds of places they've been looking at.
In between, while mother and child househunted, I spent the longest day I have so far in my new semi-official office away from home. The people there are so kind, and focused on the clients' needs rather than the bottom line- such a change from the BS that I, and my onetime co-worker in our old office who now runs this one, were subjected to for so many years.
Somewhere in there, I picked up a new client from that office, found a magic bean in a file otherwise full of manure that might save another potential client's bacon, and just felt good about where we are and how we got there.
Still do. And we're kicking the American League's ass, even though our league's retired manager refuses to put the best pitcher in baseball into the game as of this moment.
