I have no idea what put this into my head just now, but after finishing a decent sized pile of work before heading over to the office, I found myself speaking into an imaginary wrist-radio: Dick Tracy calling Go-Go Gomez, calling Go-Go Gomez!

Yes, somewhere between the Chester Gould original comic strip and the ill-fated 1990 Warren Beatty film, there was an animated version of the DT story. Channel 11 showed it in regular rotation in my formative years, along with Three Stooges shorts and other classics.  Yet, most likely because the aforementioned SeƱor Gomez is in the Politically Incorrect Hall of Shame (along with such other legends as Speedy Gonzalez, the Frito Bandito and A-Rod), I'd laid nary an eye upon the cartoon all these decades since.

Until now.

Unbeknownst to me, someone came out with a 4-DVD set of the entire 131 episode series last September, and Netflix has it.  Not being one to go overboard on such tripe, I've merely ordered the first disk, but that should be enough to get plenty of horrifying cliches from Go-Go, the equally offensive Joe Jitsu, and the Cary Grantish dog named Hemlock Holmes, back into my vocabulary for months.

Getting into such a juvenile frame of mind, I next wondered if they might have the Star Trek animated episodes.

They do.

I picked Disk The Third for that one, since it contains the Pirates of Orion episode penned for my own high school's science magazine by Howie Weinstein in the Great 70s Trek Diaspora and ultimately picked up by Paramount for this odd is-it-canon-or-izznt-it set of shows.  I haven't seen more than a still cel or two of this series in decades, either, but these originals I at least remember more vividly. The animation here is true 70s Filmation cheese, but the writing, for the most part, was excellent, and the voicing better than you'd expect from Shatner just killing time between gigs.

Now all's I need is for them to pick up the Get Smart DVDs and I may never leave the house again:/

And congratulations to the many winners of Bluff the Reader (at least some of whom knew damn well and shouldn't have voted); to bring you the correct answer, we take you, where else, to YouTube, where not surprisingly, beer is involved:
