The scanner works just fine. It's just the preloaded software for the SAME @#$% MODEL already on the hard drive which won't work WITH said scanner. But deep in Control Panel, I found a Scanner Wizard (doesn't that sound dirty?) which talks to the ~~hand~~ scanner just fine.

And if I get real adventurous this weekend, I'll retrofit the sheet feeder from the dead one onto the new one. I just don't feel like shopping for much of anything right now, much less geek stuff.

I mentioned last week I wanted to start shouting-out here for people who warm my days with their daily QWERTYing. I'd been lazy about that, but tonight's just-seen entry from my write-heir presumptive just ass-kicked me into making my first such pronouncement.

This writer's by no means an elJay celebrity, but you've quite possibly come across her writing. She's a hard-working single parent who wows me more with her quality than her quantity, although she's usually reliable enough to see something from every day.
