Lots of unknowns today. Some good, some less so.

* The AC is installed and operating. Only weird thing, though? Damn it's quiet. So quiet, half the time we don't even know it's on. I modestly proposed a Belling the Cat solution of putting some kitty collars in the heat registers so we'd get a tinkly-winkly sort of noise when the thing is on.  Considering what these delinquents will play with, probably not a good idea.

* I then got a somewhat embarrassing call from the installers, that the debit card I gave them to pay for the project had been declined. I confirmed they took down the numbers correctly and called them in. That confirmed it was an issue- probably a fraud based one- on the bank end.  Have you ever tried calling a bank? If you don't have a specific employee's direct dial number, you are routed through Voice Mail Hell that makes it virtually impossible to reach a human being. I finally did so by hitting 5, a choice that didn't exist but which didn't pop an error like hitting zero did.  I told the person on the other end that it was kinda like running in to the wall at Platform 9¾: It's kinda nice once you get there! This pretty old train, plus I hear there's this castle with wizards! Sure enough, their default for declining single transactions was set at $4,000; they upped it sufficiently to get the order through.

* Speaking of fraud, nobody was taken in by this one:

Duh, I replied. Everybody knows the IRS only takes ITUNES gift cards!

Ended the day with a final unknown. I took my AutoZone printout to our mechanic to see just how deep we're in for this repair. We still don't know; the part they list at $225 is coming up in their system at over $300. It's about the size of a spark plug with a sheaf attached.  They'll get back next week.

And that's about it. Eleanor's taken over the kitchen tonight, I have a full rich day planned for tomorrow, and all three of my teams are in action between tonight and Sunday, tripling the chances of serious suckage:P
