captainsblog: (Pepper)
I said there would be pictures from last night's trip with Pepper to the ballgame. I like good dogs, and I cannot lie;)

In a moment of temporary insanity, I almost begged out of the thing. The reasons for it, and for rejecting those reasons, deserve their own post, which hopefully this will remind me of.  But all was go for the park after a quick poop run around our block, and we got there a bit earlier than our Rochester companions:

Checking out the huskies at the box office; we already had my ticket (she didn't need one), and the two for Sadie and her two humans.  They came round and we had to head over to the far side of the yard for the doggo section in the right field corner:

THAT sign was on the outer stadium wall just past the home plate gate; seemed an odd place to put it because the intended targets would be several thousand feet up.

Just beyond that, though, was a more recent sign of an object in flight:

Most of the Jays swag has come down and Bisons logos put back up, but this one remains outside the stadium restaurant.  We passed to the Seneca Street entrance, got in and to our seats overlooking right field, with the first of the evening's company:

Sit! Good dog!

Pepper took up her spot a few rows over, and then we went in search of human dinner. Only one stand was accessible for those with doggos in tow, this mean old barrier standing between us and more exotic options:

But at least they had beer. Briefly, so did she, thanks to a pull on the leash, but she only got a sip. It was enough to look lovingly in front of my can, though:

At least she had Sadie to hang with, who she's been to a game with and around yards with before:

Third straight time at this park, I didn't see Conehead, but I figured he'd have to improvise his usual patter:

My guarantee will not fail
If your Milkbone is stale
Your dad gets a free Conehead ale!

In between the panting, there was a game. The Finally Back-Home Bisons gave up a lead, tied it, fell behind again and never caught up. In other words, the Mets showed them the script.  So I just paid attention to the canine company.  Paws-up was a common pose- from Sadie next to us-

- to a beautiful Golden, all of six months old, just across the aisle:

She (I think) was a good dog all night, other than barking at Chicken Wing and Atomic Wing during the fifth inning mascot race. But can you blame a dog for wanting wings?

She also had the cutest tongue- hung out to the right every time I caught a pant:)

There were doodles and a chow and a cute one matching Mommy:

- and this one, who got bored of the whole thing and went to sleep in Mommy's bag:

Pepper started getting antsy around the seventh inning stretch, so we booboo'd top eight and were home before the Mets and Bisons both finished losing.  But it was a much needed adventure for her and a good stress reliever for the humans.

----

I had an early appointment in my office here, which I was right on time for, and then had to head to Rochester for a will signing for a couple of new clients.  Usually I confirm these arrangements with the staff there way ahead of time, but this was a late-scheduled appointment, and  I figured Friday 11:30 a.m. wouldn’t be a conference room conflict time.

It wasn’t.

When I got there a half hour or so before the clients' expected arrival, I also found the usually filled-up single parking space was free that has  an outlet to charge the hybrid I'd driven. In fact, I found only a single car in the lot. Which is exactly when I remembered that today was the day they picked weeks ago for a staff appreciation outing to Seabreeze Amusement Park, so nobody was there.

Oh, and wills need two witnesses.

Nobody in the other lawyers' office downstairs. I don’t know any of the firefighters next-door. Finally, I said a prayer and messaged my Rochester friend who had come my way for the ballgame the night before Scott and his wife were both home, and not long after provided the needed witnessing.  I took them out to lunch as a thank you, and they repaid even further by reminding me that a Daniel Radcliffe series we watched some time back, Miracle Workers, is back for a third season and the second, which we also never saw, is available to us on HBO Max.

So, all the way around, a night and day that went to the dogs in the best of ways:)
