...not the same as the old one,  because we've never had a Lady Guv before.

In thirteen days, Kathy Hochul takes the reins of executive power in New York from this guy:

She and I have never met, far as I can remember, but I spent a year of my life within a row or two of her future husband Bill. He was in my class, and almost all of my first year classes, at UB Law School. He went on to a long career as a federal prosecutor, and after the purge of Democrats from US Attorneys Offices during the reign of Mad King Donald, he became in-house counsel for a local corporation with many ties to state government.  Outlets like the Post, not satisfied solely by Andrew's exit, are aiming at Kathy before she even takes the higher office oath, and may try to use Bill as their ticket to try to get her.

Fuck 'em. We've gaslighted enough women in Albany.

Many have speculated about what led to Cuomo's sudden announcement, around noon yesterday, that he was giving his two weeks' notice and leaving the state in Kathy's hands.  Personally, I think he got as sick of listening to his own excuses as I'd gotten. The line I crossed moved!, he said. I'm Italian, I talka wit my hands!, he implied. But what did him in for me was actually homaging the state song in his mea culpa yesterday: "New York Strong also means New York Loving. And I Love New York!"

First, I imagined the string section coming in with the famed song, its copyright donated to the state by a composer who is probably waiting to die so he can spin in his grave over Randy Andy's use of it. But then I remembered an even weirder angle on the song; SNL spoofed it in an early episode, with Buck Henry who was part of so many of their best ones. The state sued NBC over it, and it wound up setting a useful precedent for fair use in the form of parody.

So buh-bye, Cuomo.  Gooooooo, love Sod-ommmmm!
