captainsblog: (Hell)
Okay, that's not entirely true, just feels that way.

One stupid thing I'm pretty sure I did do was cause yet another appliance scare. While I was out in the late morning, I called home and Eleanor reported that now the OUTSIDE freezer had a puddle outside it and the tray of ice we put in there last night was still watery.  Probably because a certain stupid spouse didn't shut the damn door while putting the tray and some other things in there temporarily. Soon as I got home,  I moved the thermostat back in there, and it seems that a non-shut door was the cause. The freezer temp is not getting back to Frozen Wasteland as quickly as the indoor one did, but then (a) it's much bigger and (b) it's out in a non air-conditioned hot garage.

Other things I did do:

* Got to a workout, and a workout it indeed was. It was one of their occasional "non-stops," where each of three segments is designed to keep you in perpetual motion for 14 minutes. In those, I rowed over 3200 meters, ran (okay, fast walked) well over a mile, and did six straight repeated floor exercises of six reps each over and over and over.

* Looked into details on home equity financing for the various repairs we do need. One credit union I already belong to has a decent package and had a helpful rep who took Eleanor's call on a Saturday. It will replace the financing we now have remaining on the solar panels, and the new payment will be a bit higher than that one is now, but she's prepared to up her hours by a day or so to make up that difference.

* Ordered the full Republic of Doyle box set; we'll see when it gets here if it's real or from an eBay pirate.

Now the didn'ts:

* Progress on any of the current reno. Eleanor wound up calling in to work today after they'd scheduled her for a weird Saturday, because her right hand was swelling up from demo work she was doing in there yesterday before she went to work.

* Submit, or even show up, at our Saturday writing group. Totally brainfarted about it, even though it's the same bloody time every week.

* Go to a friend's art show opening last night, or a popup poetry event this afternoon, or another friend's performance with an accompanying band at another beloved local venue. But just having these options coming back still makes me feel good, until the idiots ruin it for us all:P

* See our neighbors at any time today out in their yard. Although we haven't been on the best of terms with them, I did check when I saw the missus out last night taking a walk by herself. Usually she would have their sweet adorable yellow lab in tow, so I did some snooping. Nilla went to Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday. She and we never had an unkind word or a growl or a snarl. She was a good dog, and I feel their pain.  That's now the fourth older dog in the lives of people around us who have booked Bridge passage in the past several months. I almost wonder if the pandemic put extra stress on them, having to deal with us stupid annoying humans so much more during the day.

Tomorrow awaits. Let's see what else we can do, read, watch and hopefully not break.
