Occasion-al Posting
Jul. 21st, 2021 02:50 pmI devoted my post from the Beloved's birthday to going on about my adventures from the night before. I didn't even get in a Facebook birthday post until quite late. This was it:
I'm late to the birthday party.
She knows, and understands.
There were cards, and a cake, and a haul of music from Bezos that will get here once that asshole sets foot on the moon, and an hourlong exercise class I moved from an airconditioned gym to a humid back yard to get the lawn mowed there.
So she knows.
But so should you.
How she spent her day off, and her [redacted]th birthday working on the reno in as humid a garage as I was in, only for way more than an hour.
How she's making her own birthday dinner because it's what, and how, she wants.
How she's doing so much for so many, some of whom don't even know it, but we do.
I love her. And I know you do, too:)
That got some love, but also the following:

Her: You didn't have to redact my age.
Me: A gentleman doesn't reveal a lady's age.
Her: Fook dat! I'm 65, dammit!
We spent the after-dinner hour watching episodes of the first season of Night Court, sadly inspired by discovering the passing earlier this month of Charles Robinson, the actor who played Mac the court clerk for most of the shows's run. He joins the two female bailiffs who died during the run of the show, and of course the show's star Harry Anderson. There's word that NBC is developing a sequel show that will star Big Bang Theory alumna Melissa Rauch as the judge (and Harry's daughter), with John Larroquette reprising his role as the lecherous DA Dan Fielding. We still use a bunch of catch phrases from the original episodes- the "I have a carrrrrd" line from this one, and the Bull humming to himself (after being freshly electrocuted) exchange from here. The stories still stand up all these years later, for their poignancy and their writing.

Speaking of standing up:

The colors came out kinda spooky because of the light at that hour, but I came in to find Jack in that pose for a good five minutes the other night. He's getting ever so slightly cuddlier with the humans and seems to make the least trouble of the lot of them. Which is not to say he makes none; he's taken to eating the corners of boxes and books in recent days.
Zoey, meanwhile, decided to take a nap on this keyboard a few days ago and wreaked all kinds of havoc. I had a similar issue with the still-being-rebuilt one a few months ago where one of the little delinquents managed to turn on the permanent-mute button on the top row of function keys. This time, the Zoester hit the F8 key on this one, which is the very convenient PROJECT TO ANOTHER SCREEN control. As a result, half my open programs and icons disappeared from my screen and taskbar, flying through the ether to another nonexistent monitor. I've noticed this is a Thing now, offices setting up every workstation with two displays so email can always be open on one while the other's used for whatever else. Once I found what she'd done, it was easy enough to fix. It's also easy to just lower the fucking lid whenever I'm home and she's not using it.

And home is where I think I'm heading, a bit early today. I think I've put in my fifty dollars and time served for the day;)
