"Everything"s Alright, Yes,....
Jan. 16th, 2021 09:58 pmThe game is under way, so I'll save those details for a bit. This is Buffalo's first chance to get to the AFC title game since their Super Bowl run, and the city's been going a bit loony over it. The Shout song has been on an infinite loop in the Wegmans lobby the past several days, and while the cashiers can't hear it from where they work, I'm plenty sick of it.
Other fan-ifestations of support are far more original and amusing. We saw this one on walkies today:

Pepper, of course, decided he needed to be barked and growled at. I told her to find a raven to take her anger out on.
Mostly quiet day after that, here and outside, because the game didn't begin until 8. After watching Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne in The Aeronauts earlier this week, I wanted to bring out their earlier pairing for another view. That was him as Stephen Hawking and her as his longtime love Jane in Theory of Everything. Somehow I completely missed that I was watching a film about physics- a fitting tribute to the friend and mentor I still grieve. I've now heard from both of his sons, with more stories and appreciation of my memories of his life. David Thewlis, best remembered as a part-time werewolf in the Harry Potter series, has a major role in the film, as well.
Lupin's appearance continued a streak of Hogwarts callbacks. In addition to Redmayne's starring role in the Fantastic Beasts spinoffs, we also watched Jason Isaacs playing the asshole he usually plays, from Malfoy to Lorca, in a quirky Prime thing called Dr. Bird's Advice for Sad Poets. That made the third recent viewing where poems played an important role- after Locked Down earlier in the week (also featuring the grownup Cho Chang actress in a brief role) and Paterson a few weeks ago (no Harry alums in that but still wonderful).

And, as Van Miller always said, "that's only the half of it." Tied 3-3 at the moment. They do better when I'm not paying attention, so, gnight....
ETA. Didn't make it to the end, but the fireworks after midnight woke me up. This was the Budweiser Beer Pong Turning Point of the Game™-
One game away from the Superb Owl. Next Sunday. Here or in KC, depending.
