I've been meaning to get a picture of this for the past few weeks, and after doing some shoveling and birdfeeder-feeding late this afternoon, I finally got my chance.

That's the view outside our bathroom window- often, the first outdoor sight I'll see when conscious first thing in the morning if it's light enough by then. I've been fascinated by those three leaves about 3 feet up from where the trunk separates into its two main branches- the two on the right, and especially the one on the left. They've resisted fall, and not for lack of wind or (at least in the past week or so) snow. They're tiny, and yet they just hold on for dear life, often fluttering in the dead of winter, and reminding me of one of our favorite singers most memorable single lines:

Life holds on, given the slightest chance.
