Happy New Year. Already found a new way to lose weight:P

We turned in early, after starting Best Exotic Marigold Hotel last night. Loved it so far, and yes, that is Dev Patel from The Newsroom as the hotel manager, but I still haven't seen the male lead do any experiments yet-

Awoke briefly round 12:04 to ensure that the Mayans hadn't been right but only late, then slept mostly in until round 9:30, taking care to toss the sharp-edged lids of the morning cat fud cans into the trash so Eleanor wouldn't slash a finger on one like she did last week. This, as we say would be important later.  For sometime around 10:15, while doing the dishes, I tossed something else into the trash, with the edge of that lid pointed straight up, and whoosh! went a lovely stream from my ring finger.

I am REALLY hoping to avoid urgent care (or, really, ANY care)- especially on a holiday- because I don't even have my new insurance card yet and this is all going to be full-pay until I hit a modestly large deductible. So Eleanor helped me bandage it up, but it's in a weird spot that I've reopened the wound on three times now- once during a workout (not doing that again for a few more days), once after getting it wet in the sink (also using the chance to slab some triple antibiotic ointment on it), and once just randomly just before sitting down with the Sherlock series 2 finale to remind me where-all we're starting from.

----

He, of course, who ended "Reichenbach Fall" with a flying leap- which we now know to have been faked.  The English are learning his fate as we speak; I have re-located my browser to 221B Baker Street in order to get the feed as soon as it arrives (since PBS is again, stupidly, withholding it from American audiences, if only by weeks rather than months this time), but the ep will have to play out Over There before it will display On Here.  So please- keep your silence until tonight and I'll do the same until the 19th.

I also put my first 2014 Books Read to bed; I'm now tracking them on my Goodreads shelf rather on the mostly-dead LJ page where I don't think I got a single comment in the years I've been doing it.

Eleanor's been at work since before I got home from my gym attempt, but will be home soon. Tomorrow's my first back-to-Rochester workday in almost two weeks, and hopefully no security systems will breached, no detectives will fall from tops of hospitals, and no fingers will be harmed in the feeding of aminals.
