Wasted days and wasted, well, days....
Jan. 9th, 2012 11:36 amCourt at 9:30 this morning turned into No Court once I got there. Judge called in sick. Someday, perhaps, the court system will catch up to the rest of this century and actually use the email addresses we provide on our forms, to give us a heads-up that we're about to waste an hour of travel time. Least I didn't get a ticket, despite my best efforts to do so (the windshield receipt blew upside-down in the stiff Eagle Street wind and you bet they would've busted me for it if I hadn't gotten out early).
Leaving court, I headed past the Occupy:Buffalo encampment in Niagara Square, one of the few in this whole country to not have been pepper-sprayed and bulldozed out of existence by armed troops. Instead, this one is falling apart from within; it's a much smaller bivouac than it was the last time, and I'd previously read why:
A schism in the Occupy Buffalo movement, a few of whose members sought to expand into Lafayette Square, has led to the formation of a new group called Occupy Western New York.
At this rate, it won't be long before we start seeing nightly knife fights between the Occupy Peoples' Front and the Peoples' Front of Occupation.
Really, though. You guys would be better off working toward the 2012 elections.
The best line of the Republican debate the other night? This (apparently unembeddable one)
Most of the other participants were confused, but all Manhattanites instantly recognized that phrase as meaning, "NO MENUS."
