Today was my first full day at a sci-fi con in close to 20 years. Last night's late check-in, and last year's almost as brief first-day visit, were mere tastes of what today was.

Ages, from toddler to eighties. Costumed and chaired participants, with more than a little overlap, including a different-abler woman in a full-body Curious George costume. Lots of guests just hangin' in between their scheduled appearances, and very accessible all the way round. (Exception: Richard Dean Anderson, the highest priced "get" of the event, had mondo security around him to keep anyone from getting a free pic).

Three panels, two performers during the day. Groups on Brit-Canadian shows (lots of love for Orphan Black); a workshop on prosthetic makeup-

- and a third on crossing over from fanfic to pro writing.

Just before the last one, two actors: another tail end with Robert Picardo again, but then a glorious full hour with Torchwood's Eve Myles:

Great stories from her, leaving Barrowman in the dust of Cockeysville. She told a tale of the overly correct baby bump they made her wear for the TW pregnancy period, which basically involved Jack turning her surplus lady parts into a trailer sink. (She also does multiple dead-on US accents.) In time, I'll tell that and several others from her, but will end with our fearsome foursome at her much lower-rent signing table:

----

Back then to Essex for crab lumps, for a showing of Sharknado 2, and plans for an early start tomorrow to get me and my friend Bill to see the Mets....

I just hope it doesn't snow. Or worse.
