Irrational Grid
Dec. 30th, 2013 10:26 amIt's a good thing Eleanor pays attention to things.
We got a postcard a couple of weeks ago to advise of a maintenance-related power outage in this neighborhood. Today, 9 until 11 a.m. I, of course, totally forgot and was blissfully working away. Thanks to the reminder, I unplugged the laptop, reconnected an old Princess-style phone to a landline, and,... nuthin'.
It finally went out closer to 10, so I decided to use the time for powerless windmill-tilting.
It was time to call the Damn Insurance Company again, over the policy they'd previously assured me three times was reinstated- but was still short a premium bill and still showing as canceled. I now have my fourth promise to that effect, but I totally trust nothing from them at this point.
Next, a call to EZ-Pass, to try to reverse an alleged trip to the Bronx I was charged for when I first got Kermit the Car, didn't have a dash sticky for it and didn't hold it up in time. This will not result in a refund, of course, but in a ludicrous positive balance. Maybe I'll drive to the damn Bronx to burn it off.
And, since all of this feels much like fighting City Hall, here- some artwork from my last wanderings down there a few weeks back. These are just randomly carved next to tax and finance offices:
Hi-ho!
Eat them up, yum!

Hey, Rocky!

and.... you BETTER be a flyin' squirrel....

They certainly don't build them like that anymore.
Half an hour of silence to go. Time to grease that ol' jousting pole again....
