It isn't every day I manage to break the same appliance twice. With this total muggy-muddy-stickiness in our back yard, though? I've doubled my pleasure, doubled my FAIL.

You may remember both me and the missus mentioning WALL-E:

He arrived three summers ago, and since then has been our only lawnmower. He runs on pure Fat Dude power, burns something like 400 calories an hour, and doesn't stink like petrol when you use him. Last summer, his rather unfortunate design at mid-handle did him in, as the upper part of one side of his handle broke off above the two bolts connecting it to the lower half. The quickest way to get back in the game was to order an exact duplicate, which I did, figuring that would also cover me when the other side's top handle broke off....

which is what it did while I tried dragging it into, out of, or through the quickmud back there round 9-something this morning.

I quickly popped on the second replacement half-handle, finished about a third of the back before church, a second third after finishing my outline (YAY!), and was roughly halfway through the rest of the Forty when, once again, the worner of the two new half-handles did the same damn thing ten minutes or so ago.

At this point, I'm back to considering buying a real mower again, at least for the rest of THIS ridiculous summer, where the extra firepower is almost necessary to get through the muck and mire.  If I can find a better-constructed self-pushy one, I may consider it, but it's hard to ask even WALL-E to come out wanting to dance to "Easter Parade" when it's been raining two out of every three fucking days since Ash Wednesday, with little if any end in sight.

Yeah, mowing when it's been this wet out is necessary (my yard is a meadow), but...not exactly easy, or easy on the equipment...
