Back to semi-normal
Sep. 8th, 2010 08:32 pmOne court appearance (resolved before it even began). Two client appointments (back to back). Major clearance of backlog of stuff from desk (with not nearly as much replacing it). Two hours of workout at end of day (anticipatory ow). Tasha got out at some point today (but decided she'd had enough adventure for one day as soon as Eleanor headed out to round her up).
Our ancient boom box, containing what might be our now-oldest CD player under this roof, finally gave up the ghost over the weekend, so I replaced it with a rather cute RCA mini-system that plays FM, CDs and has a pick-up for iPod/iPhone audio. The JazzFM signal from Toronto was never good out in the greenhouse, and the n00b unit couldn't pick up even a trace of it, but as the saying goes, there's an app for that. I can now plug my phone into the auxiliary input and have Brad, and Laura, and the rest of the airstaff streamed into our own little pod for dinner jazz at any hour.
On the entertainment front: many of you have recommended what I now know to be called "The Eye-Tee Crowd" and I will be checking it out. Last night, Eleanor and I watched King of Hearts, an incredibly sweet and funny piece from 1966 with Alan Bates and an amazing cast of loonies. I first discovered that film at Cornell in the late 70s, when my roommate Jim insisted I go with them to a Uris Hall screening. Jim's one of those forever friends I never manage to stay in touch with enough, and as recently as a year ago, I managed to pick up with his fam right where we'd left off. He's yet to respond to birthday wishes I sent a week ago, and I'm praying I haven't experienced a burned or blown-up bridge, or blockhouse.
