captainsblogWegmans makes a simply deadly new bakery item:
Over the weekend, we had it for dessert with one each of these equally deadly single-serving (3.5 ounce) sorbets that Haagen Daaz is now selling- to those who don't think a pint is, strictly speaking, a single serving. Last night, after a particularly stressful day for all of us, Eleanor brought home another loaf, and we made do with some plain vanilla on the side.
The humidity finally broke here (it's up a little this afternoon but we've been AC-less for almost two whole days, the longest in weeks), so we all got a decent night's sleep last night. Me, even more so, because the animals let me sleep in all the way until 6 a.m. w00t!
Then Em got up, and we figured out why.
Her: Dad? Where'd you put the peach bread?
Me: In the cupboard.
Her: WHICH cupboard?
Me: The one over the microwave.
Her: It's not there!
Dog: (assumes look of complete innocence)
Me: Here, let me look!
Cupboard: (fails to yield peach bread)
Garbage can: (proves to yield, not just the one empty bread package Em had finished the night before, but also the one, picked up from the floor at 6 a.m., which Dad THOUGHT was the one Em had finished the night before)
Dog: (abandons all pretense and gloats)
At various times, we've had Peach Pie, Peach Melba, Peach Cobbler and Peach Jam. Now we have added Peach Fail to our recipe book.
Eleanor's bringing more home. Which will NOT be stored in that cupboard, and certainly not in with the dog food.
