Second Period- Recess (of my mind)

Out of those distant recesses, an hour or so ago, came a thought of this comic strip parody I've been carrying around for almost 30 years.  Not just in my head, even- I have the whole Sunday Comix section:)

So here, unseen by most until now (and not likely to be seen by you if you're either on dialup or not on my Flist), is the legend of

The Amazing Squirrel-Man!

----

The humor helps. I'm better today, after many kind words about stuff going on in Ye Olde Life the other day, but the dawn didn't come without a little extra sadness:

Molly Ivins, 1944-2007

Slowly but surely, Shrub is killing off the brightest and best of his enemies. Molly's great good friend Ann Richards died barely four months ago; here you can find my reproduction of Molly's eulogizing words of her from the time.  We knew Molly was battling cancer, but hadn't heard anything in a while, so the news came as a bit of a shock today. Years ago, around the time of release of Molly Ivins Can't Say That, Can She?, we went to hear her speak at a lecture series at Rochester's Downtown Presbyterian. She is (shit. was) as genuine and warm and funny in person as her writing always made her seem. She also did a Ross Perot imitation that I still think of every time I see a chihuahua.

Bless you, ma'am. Go stand on the edge of heaven for me sometime and spit down heavy stove bolts on Nixon and Reagan, willya?

Finally, sympathies to the Boston contingent here for the rampant stupidity caused yesterday. Check this page this time tomorrow for what I hope will be the definitive followup to that.
