Only today, though. So I'll give you three of them. Only one of them is mine, though. See if you can guess which.

As I mentioned last week, they're shooting chase scenes in downtown Rochester as part of the sequel to the Amazing Spider-Man reboot. Main and State has apparently been rechristened 8th and 57th, and there's far more police protection down there than you'll ever see on a given weekday. This was the sight at the corner of West Main and Fitzhugh, across from the County Clerk's office, at about 11 this morning:

There's been more than a little grumbling from the natives about the restrictions on parking, driving and access to downtown businesses (all three of them that still remain). Both the city and the production company have been pretty good about posting advance notifications about things. So tomorrow, for instance, the street all those cop cars are more-or-less pointed onto (Main) will be shut from a block west of that corner to about two blocks east, for whatever Doc Oc or Magneto has to throw at them. I'm due in court about a block north and another one east of that corner, but I now know (and have told the clients) to approach from the north and they (and I) should be fine.

In an odd coincidence, I got an email from a long-ago client that he's doing an event later this month that Spidey would be proud of:

That's Rochester's First Federal Plaza, still named for the long-demised local bank that built it in the 70s. It was the home for my first nine years of law practice, on a floor roughly next to the bottom of the yellow banner.  The thing on top, which looks like one of the spaceships from the old sci-fi series V, was originally designed as a revolving restaurant but has been just offices for at least the last decade.  But from that facility, there were access panels to the outside, and each May for the past several, it's been the jumping-off point- literally- for a fundraising effort benefiting local Scouts:

On May 17, 2013 Rappel down the First Federal Plaza Building and see Rochester like you've never seen it before.  21 Stories for Scouts is a life changing 309 foot descent down the First Federal Plaza building in downtown Rochester to benefit Scouting programs for 40 aftershool programs in the city of Rochester, and underserved at-risk youth throughout our five-county service area!  It’s a fundraising event unlike any other in the Rochester area.  In May of 2010, Seneca Waterways Council connected with Over The Edge (a Scandinavian company) to put on this unique fundraiser that identifies with Scouting.

For a $1,000 donation in a single gift or through donations, anyone over the age of 14 can have this amazing experience for themselves… and help give young Scouts once-in-a-lifetime experiences of their own that they get through unit activities and from attending one of our camp programs.  The rappel is synonymous with a young boy preparing to rappel the 30 foot wall at camp. At the top of the wall, there is trepidation and nervousness.  But once you begin the descent, the feeling is exhilarating. And when you reach the ground, the feeling turns to one of great accomplishment.

A friend of mine, who got stuck in the Tuesday traffic from the Spiderman 2 shooting, told me a co-worker of hers had done this in a previous year.  The rappelling gloves weren't enough to keep his hands from tearing apart on the way down, but it was one of the high points of his life- in more ways than one.

I won't be doing anything as high and mighty later this month, but I do still get to experience the stupid much closer to ground level:

The truth, it McHurts.
