Back from behind the locked (and heavily padded) door.

I posted a couple of times yesterday, on a friends-only basis, since I was referencing some things there (but not here) which came from similarly locked posts by other people. If you were following those tales, or even if you weren't, here's where things be, more or less. For your convenience, you may order by number:

1. In which Ray plans a road trip- again.... )

2. In which Ray's cable modem blinks on and off, well, like a cable modem, only on some kind of downers.... )

3. In which Ray attempts to cook a meal, and hiliariaty, if not kitchen fires, did inevitably ensue )

And that's all he wrote.

Girls' (and Boy's) Night In

With some additions from Eleanor, the Asian Orange Chicken went off fine for dinner tonight. I do need to work on portion sizes, though: the amount of flour threatened to make these chicken breasts almost as pasty and white as my own, but I thinned the cornstarch at the end of the recipe and it came out more-or-less okay.

Then the show to go with the dinner: A Bit of Fry and Laurie, disk one, which I'd actually ordered from Netflix weeks ago (along with Peter's Friends, another memorable Fry/Laurie effort) but managed to drop in with the recyclable pop bottles until Eleanor found them in the garage the other night. Wonderful stuff, and as timeless as the Pythons/Beyond the Fringes from a decade or so earlier. Some of the timelessness, unfortunately, I could do without:

When I turned the DVD player off, the cable came back on, showing the current offering on the USA Network that the kid must've had on this afternoon.

House, what else?

If only everyone knew what ELSE Hugh Laurie could do....
