At the gym: a guy wearing a serious amount of ink, both graphic and textual, the highlight of the latter section being a block-lettered tat reading

PEOPLE=SHIT

Wow. I have my share of bad days, but somehow I've gone almost half a century avoiding any desire whatsoever to have my darkest opinions of humanity permanently scarred onto my right forearm.

----

In the grocery just now: dispatched to the dairy section to furnish Emily with the cream cheese for her bagels which she neglected to put on the Eleanor-filled grocery list when she listed the latter (figuring Mom would just know, right?)- a number of products purporting to be something called RANCH DIP, but which I, in a fit of dyslexia and cross-association, managed to read, on more than one different package, as ROACH DIP.

Unlike the roach motel, critters check in and they do check out, only with high cholesterol.

Federal Buildings are virtual armed prisons these days. Metal detectors, all bags x-rayed, positive ID required, cell phones and liquids confiscated, and that magic state-issued attorney ID in my wallet which whisks us past such stuff in state court buildings? They no workee. (A lawyer complained to the Chief Judge in charge of such decisions. He showed the lawyer the box of weapons confiscated from just lawyers over the previous year.)

The court security peeps- actual federal marshals in Buffalo, Wackenhut rent-a-cops in Rochester- are decent chaps, and usually I just leave my wallet in the put-metal-objects-here carrier with my ID fanned out so I don't have to make an issue of presenting it on request.

Late last week, though? As I proceeded to do just that to one of the Wacken-nuts (who I'd seen before, but not as many times as some of them), he stopped me and said, and this is an exact quote, "Yes, I know who you are."

All I need fathom now is if I am destined to become P.M. or the honourable member from Flydale North. Either of which would be an accomplishment, if you think about it.
